Regarding Dr. Mehrdad Bazrpash’s emphasis on active participation in specialized committees of international and regional organizations and using domestic and foreign capacities under the third strategic document of the Court of Audit (2020-2025), representatives from the Supreme Audit Court of the Islamic Republic of Iran participated the 14th Annual Meeting of INTOSAI Working Group on Anti-Corruption and Money Laundering, attended by representatives from over 30 member SAIs.

The Supreme Audit Court participated this meeting with the aim of exchanging technical knowledge and experiences in the field of public auditing, and also presenting the article of SAI Iran on the subject “Money Laundering, Measures of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Role of the Supreme Audit Court in the Fight against Corruption and Money Laundering”.

Mr. Hesham Badawy, President of SAI Egypt (ASA) and Chairman of WGFACML, inaugurated the session. Afterwards, representatives from SAIs Ecuador, the United States, Austria, Brazil and the Islamic Republic of Iran presented the country papers. Following this meeting, the working plan of the working group for the years 2022-2020 was approved by the members and the Court of Accounts of France, Ukraine and the Philippines were introduced as new members of the working group. In the end, SAI Thailand was chosen to host the next annual meeting of the working group in 2021.

It is worth mentioning that WGFACML is one of the most important working groups of INTOSAI, which was established in 2007 and is currently chaired by SAI Egypt. This working group, with 35 members, aims to help SAIs by providing policies, strategies and actions to track and detect corruption and money laundering in the transactions and activities of government agencies to increase the transparency of the government's financial activities and return stolen properties to the governments. The Supreme Audit Court of the Islamic Republic of Iran officially became a member of WGFACML in March 2012.
